Frequently Asked Questions
What information is provided to my employer?
Counselling sessions are 100% confidential between you and the Guidestar practitioner. No information is shared with your employer.
Guidestar is required to follow laws about using, storing and disclosing personal information, including the Information Privacy Act 2000 (Victoria), the Privacy Act 1988 (Commonwealth) and the Privacy and Data Protection Act 2014 (Victoria). You can find out more information in our Privacy Policy.
Who Pays for the Service?
Your employer will pay for an agreed number of sessions. You are not required to pay anything to access the Guidestar EAP service. The number of available sessions depends on the agreement we have with your employer. On your first visit we will let you know how many sessions you can access. At the end of your last available session, your counsellor can discuss options for further counselling or support if needed.
Are session times provided outside traditional ‘work hours’?
Yes, we can provide counselling outside 9.00am – 5.00pm. Talk with your counsellor to see what works best for your schedule.
What if I need further support?
If the employee and counsellor agree that the employee would benefit from further or longer term counselling sessions or other supports, the counsellor will discuss options and can provide the employee with appropriate referral to another counsellor or mental health professional.
